Can you trust SU and Williams words anymore ?Let's see what they have said so far: (1) we will not extend the offer after expiry date of Dec 4 (result: they extend the offer on Dec 3) (2) this deal is fair and we will not increase the bid price (Question: do you believe in his first part of this statement ? Knowing the result of (1), do you believe their credibility of the second part) (3) SU claimed they will keep IMO to continue managing operations of Syncrude after they have acquired COS (Questionable, right ?) (4) SU demonstrated unprofessional fearmongering skills saying "If our bid expire on Dec 4, COS SP will fall back to 6 C$..." So SU has the crystal ball in SP prediction... In fact, no one knows ! The longer the takeover battle drags, the more things may evolve in external environment eg oil price changes, new and more interested parties etc, this is the reason why SU tries to give no time for COS shareholders and potential suitors to think and evaluate.. The situation when COS has its 52 week low price of 5.62$ was quite different from now, and why is it that it will fall back to 52 week low price. Take BTE as an example which is a much beaten down stock falling in far more extent than COS as well as totally wiped its dividend. BTE's 52 week low is 3.92$ on Sep 29 2015 and its closing price yesterday and Nov 3 were respectively 5.61$ and 6.34$. Without any takeover bid, BTE crawled from 3.92$ to 6.34$ ie 50% by its own, so how can Williams state COS will drop back to 5.62$ if SU was removed from the table... SU's credibility is seriously unprofessional and unbelievable !
