RE:RE:Owning COS vs SU

RE:RE:Owning COS vs SUMalx1 said"If you're going to do performance comparisons, have a look at both co's starting from 2000.
COS was up from $28ish to $200 per share between 2003 and 2005.
5 for 1 split.   Distributions were up maybe 500% during that period.
Don't cherry-pick your data."

I don't even know if I should waste my time on this.

Adjusted for stock split, at the begining of 2000, COS was trading at 5$ and 8.70 today .  Suncor was trading at $7.55 at the beginning of 2000 and trading at 36$ today.  Whether Cos did a stock split is irrelevant as both prices are adjusted for the stock split.  Suncor had 2 for 1 stock split three times during this period (2000, 2002 and 2008) but again this is irrelevant as again both prices are adjusted for the split.

I wonder how some can make investment decision when they can't even study historical data correctly.  Without any stock split, Suncor would have hit a high of  $450 in 2008.
