Success is slow to find me, but if I remember to stay humble, listen more than I talk and respect opinions I don't share, then maybe my day will come.
I have some of the same reactions from family and friends in my life too. At times of success, many said I was lucky. Strange but luck favors hard workers. Thats all I have got in my tool belt is hard work that will overcome all my deficits.
Precisely right too! I am fueled by criticism. And sounds like you as well. I am competing with myself as you say. I expect to be great and grow tired of my mediocracy. I know I can do better and I am challenging myself daily to do that. You challenge me, commentors on this toxic waste dump called Stockhouse challenge me to reach deep in my own understanding of why they say and do what they do and for me to "handle it" in stride.
Great challenge to communicate here, challenge accepted.
Thank you!
Thank you too MB, the feeling is mutual. They see that you are not failing, but understand nothing about risk and the effort and patience required to manage it. They feel as if they are somehow entitled to success, angry that they didn't get something for nothing, so they call it luck. We play the hands we're dealt - if you're not born with a silver spoon in your mouth, this world gives you scraps. Some are dealt great hands, most are dealt mediocrity and conditioned to accept it. (In the grand scheme, we got lucky even having the opportunity to strive for something as westerners). Hard work and humility is what separates you from the weak and complacent. I enjoyed our discussion here and won't post simply to annoy you guys anymore. Have you ever read any Neitzsche? Read some if you have time, invaluable insight into human nature for us lone wolves.
