RE:Oil stocks way oversold
RE:Oil stocks way oversoldI am looking back at the 1998-2002 time period, comparing financials on producers who were medium size players at that time , and wondering if that is the case . Accounting for inflation we are at the equivalent of $22 oil back in year 2000 so you might be correct this could be the gut wrenching bottom many have been waiting for in commodities , how long it lasts is the next question . Valuations are now similar to that time period so maybe not much downside from here and could be optimum time to settle in to a larger postion in some quality names that are at no risk of going belly up if this uber-low price environment carries on for a year or two . TBE needs at least a $10 rebound in oil to remain in the game in my opinion , that would enable them to sell some assets and reduce credit facility - it is a terrible shame because I do believe this was a well run operation and up until a few months ago had a prudent debt level .
