RE:RE:RE:RE:Will Angela Merkel do a u-turn on nuclear power? The germans are very proud of their Energiewende and they really think that a green revolution is happening. The fact that their carbon emissions are up as a result is seen as a 'temporary' phenomenon. There is more solar capacity in Germany than in Spain. How foolish is that?
I do not think Merkel will reverse this decision. Germans and Austrians in particular are very anti-nuclear. Austria built a reactor which was never started due to green opposition. Guess who have sued the UK gov't over state aid to Hinkley Point? That's right, a group of German renewables and an Austrian group.
The nuclear industry needs to beef up it's lobbing efforts in Europe.
