RE:RE:RE:I Guess This Means There Are No Other Offers For COS...?Let's look at the facts. COS was $38.50 and Suncor was $52.40 on December 31, 2001. COS split 5 for 1 in 2008 and Suncor has had 2 - 2 for 1 splits since 2001. If i invested $10,000 in COS on December 31, 2001 i would now have 1,298.7 Shares worth $11,000 and received over $20,500 in Dividends. If I invested $10,000 in Suncor i would have 763.36 shares worth $27,832 and received just over $4,180 in dividends. Just about even in constant dollars but as we all know money devalues over time. Money received 5 years ago is worth more than money received today. I can reinvest my ernings to create more income. Hence, I would have received more value from COS than Suncor.
Suncor can brag all it wants but the facts prove otherwise. Remember, Suncor is part of the Syncrude BOD and approves all plans. To blame COS for Syncrude problems is shameful and not a character trait I want to see in someone running my company. Williams should be shouldering some of the blame as he is part of the problem.
When oil rises, COS share price will rise with it quite handily and they will hand the cash flow over to the shareholders like all businesses should do. Suncor's share will rise some but the outlook for the current year is not good as it is a recommended stock to short. Suncor has greater downside than COS.
