Crude historical chart
I've noticed that in th past, everytime there has been a major crash in its price, that the quick recovery/price reversal point has nearly always occured in late January / early February. I don't know what financial market reason would dictate that this is the time periode for the big guys to say raise the price of crude, but here it is for yourselves to see:

You can look at the past 20 years to observe when the previous three revesals happened or go back as far as needed.
I think perhaps a major price rversal is just on the horizon (1 month or so) and the people at both Suncor and COS know this. THis is why the SU offer was very pitiful, and why 2/3 of the COS shareholders will not tender their shares to them.
If my theory of the crude price reversal being in effect in the next few weeks, by whatever reason that bring it about, then be sure that SU will make a second and much bigger counter offer to own COS before that time arrives.
