Prognosticationsthis is some fun eh! lol
My view (aka wild guess):
Suncor wants this asset, no doubt about it. They will not walk away without getting it done!
My guess is they will come back with something like the following pap:
This past Friday we have extended our offer to COS shareholders as we are now far too close to receiving a majority of shares to walk away from this smart arrangement.
I have asked the board to consider going the extra mile in order to conclude this transaction, by providing any further incentive possible, even as this depressed commodity environment extends out longer and longer and longer and longer and longer into the uncertain, hazy, dubious, frightening future.
While we are extremely challenged in this low oil for longer environment to come up with any further incentive for COS shareholders, the board has come to my rescue, rallied around my request and will make good one final increase to the previous offer, in the [pathetic] amount of ____ %.
This last and final offer has a firm time limit - it will be terminated on ______!
I would urge every COS shareholder who has not already tendered their shares to recognize that this extremely generous one time only, good will increase, demonstrates the sympathy and genuine respect [cough cough] we have for COS shareholders - this is an historic opportunity to join together 2 of Canada's most formidable commodity companies, making us all stronger and better able to meet the challenges of the word marketplace - early bird tenders will also be automatically entered to win a free Timmy's cup-o-soup.
