Olympus is not out of Trouble
Olympus is not out of TroubleThere are significant constraints that come wwwwith the new version of the TJF-Q180V.
Here's a partial summary produced by a consultant:
How is the new reprocessing process different?
The new Reprocessing Manual features changes including:
- Precleaning and manual cleaning are now required even when using an Automated Endoscope Reprocessor (AER)
- The new TJF-Q180V Reprocessing Manual has updated parameters for ethylene oxide gas sterilization cycles
- Only the use of Acecide-C High-Level Disinfectant in the OER-Pro is permitted for reprocessing the TJF-Q180V. ALDAHOL 1.8 High Level Disinfectant is not permitted for reprocessing the TJF-Q180V in the OER-Pro.
- Changes to the leakage test - the original reference to “two or more air bubbles” now indicates “a continuous series of air bubbles”
This is not an exhaustive list of changes. It is important that you review the new TJF-Q180V duodenoscope reprocessing manual in detail. The inside cover page lists all changes in the new Reprocessing Manual.
Note the first bullet. There's more. The new scope has been validated only with Olympus' own automatic reprocessors. When it comes to the machines of the other manufacturers, the manual only warns the users to check with the manufacturers.
Why not buy a sterilizer instead?
