RE:Vanc dorm closers, macgregor take over of parts of kgicMy sources are students. We have helped several students who received their notices find homestays. My speculation on McG is based on the news he has released to the public, little to none. I have talked to teachers at one of the schools and I have a friend who was laid off from the Toronto branch a couple of months ago. The ESL and career college industries are not related, even in structure, but definitely not in recruitment. Refugees will not support a thriving quality ESL, as it will require lowering teacher standards to get cheaper and less experienced teachers, increased class size which reduces effectiveness and efficiency of teaching, and lowering the 30-40% payouts to agents for other student recruiting. It is a complex situation, but it reflects the fact that the corporate model for an ESL business that wants to actually do good quality work will not work.
