According to press release of the Canadian state company VALEURA, which holds licenses to conduct research for finding hydrocarbons in Turkey, drilling took place in Eastern Thrace region found a sufficient quantity of natural gas.
The drilling reached to the depth of 2,735 meters. The reservoir is designed to feed the pipeline Turkey - Greece - Italy natural if done.

The map shows the areas where the company has carried out or to be carried out research in eastern Thrace region.

Significantly, the authoritative American Statistical US service EIA, considers that the Turkish part of Thrace is one of the largest shale gas deposits in the world. Furthermore preliminary study of IGME

It considers that there are corresponding structures in the Greek part of Thrace, assessment if verified radically changes its energy and geopolitical balance in the region.

In May 2013, the US Energy EIA Statistical Office published a report on areas with the most interesting potential of shale gas, such as China, Mongolia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Pakistan and Jordan. The last chapter of the report was dedicated to two large fields in Turkey, one in the depths of Anatolia and the second in Eastern Thrace. So, according to the EIA in East Thrace identified in field Hamitabat Shale geological formations that contain 34 trillion cubic feet of gas from shale (of which 6 trillion is recoverable) and two billion barrels of shale oil (of which 100 million barrels are Recoverable).

The logical question is what we do? In looking? We do not care all such information, even to test them?
