Congo political risk over-blown...There may be factions in Congo that promote nationalization of natural resources. All good in theory, but it falls apart in practice. If the Congo were to revoke the implied property rights of Zijin in the giant Kamoa copper mine, I wonder how China, its largest export destination, will react.
That's just one possible scenario in the aftermath of resource natonalization.
The more important consideration for the Congolese is where do they get the management expertise and specialized technical skills required to extract resources, both economically and environmentally.
The bottom line: without foreign investment and, more importantly, foreign expertise, the Congo is sh!t out of luck if it plans to go it alone through nationalization.
