The number of cases in the US can absolutely not be half the number of cases in the world for this type of condition.

Why would we suppose the company is speaking of the number of "cases they will be called to treat" when they say "sepsis cases in the US"? If we want to come up with the nbr of PMX treated cases, we will want to substract from some accurate figure first, not from one that is based on an inexact definition of "number of cases". We should always be watchful for misleading statements, whether they seem too optimistic or the opposite.
It is scary enough that we are dealing with an imperfect human entity (FDA). Let's not cloud the issue with careless stats an opinions. In information, bias is not good. Unfavorable of favorable.
