Your comments about BB ... you are correct it is why they are secure within their network... it is when they go outside.. it is no longer ... What Route1 does it connects you through their secure network to your base network you are wanting to go to .. they act as a gate keeper or a conduit essentially...
SO the initial point is almost irrelevant... I say almost because there are components that allow you into Route1 Network based on your credentials which routes you to your destination Network ...
So it would not matter the initial contact side which is the USB key it could be embedded it would be in my view a huge advantage because then it would be available to anyone .. so for online banking etc... it would be far superior .... because you are a locked down connection....
