Understanding Canadian Market Regulators

Understanding Canadian Market Regulators
Canadian Investors should feel comfortable with the Canadian Capital Markets.

There's has been misconceptions and misinformation as to who regulates the Canadian Capital and Financial Markets.

IIROC -  Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC)
Does not regulate the financial markets in Canada.  IIROC regulates members and investments firms and brokerages and their employees that are registered with IIROC.    If an organisation is not registered with IIROC, they are not regulated by IIROC. Stockhouse for example, is not regulated.

The Provincial Regulators.  Finance Ministers from numerous Provinces are aware that a National Regulatory System is required in Canada.  Although this has formally not been taken over by the Federal Government yet, the Canadian Provincial regulators have formed CCMR.

CCMR: Cooperative Capital Markets Regulatory System which will better protect investors, support and foster efficiency, and manage systemic risk in national capital markets.
