RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Timeline is tickingVery important, picture a macadamia nut cookie from Tims...if it's right out of the oven the cookie matrix is soft and chewy where when you bite into it, you actually have to put pressure to bite through the macadamia and can almost separate it from the cookie dough...now if it's stale or frozen, you have to apply equal pressure to the cookie and can't really tell the difference between the dough or the macadamia. kimberlite host rock is kind of the same, it varies in hardness, especially if it's water bearing...that water table will soften the rock significantly, just like if you threw that cookie and left it in a bucket of water. Now kimberlite is definitely not as soft as cookie dough, but it is fairly soft comparatively...not sure what it would no on the Mohs scale of hardness but diamonds are the hardest.
Terribly analogy but hopefully you get the idea...off to Timmies to get my coffee and cookie now ;)
