United and Delta - I finally get itThe Rock79, I know you've been saying this all along but I finally get it. I thought Bombardier had lost their chance to get into United. But I now realize that what they lost was a chance to get over 100 jets with United. They should still get up to 50 with United and maybe more with Delta. I now understand what you were saying after reading articles on the pilots accord. United and Delta have discovered that their 50 seat planes are uneconomical, but the pilots don't want to lose jobs. So the accord with the pilots stipulates that they can move up to 70 and 100 seat planes in defined ratios. United's ratio is apparently 1 to 1.25. Delta's looks like 1 to 2. And the question isn't IF they're going to make the move to larger regionals, but when. Both stated last year that they would be making the purchase in the first half of 2016 (i.e. In the next 4 months). And the only two choices are Bombardier and Embraer. I now believe you that the agreement with United is done because United almost bought a whole lot more in deals that had nothing to do with the 50 seats. Boeing resorted to criminal discounting to stop them because they knew what that would mean - that Bombardier could come to dominate their fleet. No kidding they're scared, Bombardier very nearly scored 100 plans in United Airlines' fleet in the last two months! I almost fell off my chair when I realized the implication. These fleets are starting to think of replacing their core Boeing and Airbus plans with the CS300. This completely changes the game in my mind. Boeing and Airbus aren't even allowed to compete with the CS100 while fighting for their lives on the CS300. This is incredible! And Boeing has to sell their planes at a $10 million loss just to win the deal.
