Your statements and advice is much too simplistic__in the real world it has been getting harder and harder to Get to YES__and expecting to have nice, meaningfull dialogue with parties which simply are on an ideological basis so distant from any agreement would be about the same as expecting nice, meaningfull dialogue between the parties in a bitter divorce or on the abortion issue as good real world examples.
