Designated Learning Institutions
Designated Learning InstitutionsInternational students with Study Permits, which allow them to study in Canada for more than six months, have to attend Designated Learning Institutions. Non-designated schools can only accept students on Visitor visas, for 6 months or less. All private, previously designated Designated Learning Institutions had to apply for re-designation this January, and had to submit, among many other things, audited financial statements for the previous two years. Schools could potentially lose their Designated status if their operations and finances are not up to standard and be ineligible to host longer term students, with corresponding substantial negative effect on revenue (maybe -20 to 30%?).
