Zagros Airlines Buys 20 Embraer Regional Jets (135 seats) Today morning the news agency ISNA could confirm Zagros Airlines’ purchase of 20 Embraer aircraft. The 20 aircraft were purchased in a deal who totally includes 50 aircraft from Embraer, where the 30 others are to one or more unknown Iranian airlines.
In February 2016, it was confirmed that Zagros Airlines has expressed interest for the regional Embraer aircraft.
Zagros Airlinse is a rapidly growing airline with focus on the domestic market. Flights to Turkey and the Gulf Region are also carried. The airline currently holds one of the country’s most modern fleets with a majority being second-hand Airbus aircraft . In January, Zagros Air imported Iran’s very first A319.
In an interview, the airline director Hoshang Sedigh announced that Zagros Air has been discussing possible aircraft purchases with several foreign aircraft manufacturers during the past few months. Embraer became the first company to sign a deal with Zagros Airlines.
After a meeting with Embraer in Tehran, the airline could annonuce its purchase of 20 aircraft. The aircraft will have 135 seats, he reported. Zagros Airlines’ representatives are now in Brazil in order to finalize the deal.
