They knew for months how deep the well would be, but didn't know they'd have a testable zone at the lower depth. Still, my apologies for introducing the larger/longer confusion, or even for just perpetuating it. Anyway, they may have ordered the larger tubing a long time ago, but were stuck
with a smaller one that happened to be available. Turkey is not North Dakota, when it comes to
the availability of fracking gear.
Murdoch, your belief that deeper always means higher-pressure seems reasonable. However,
that doesn't mean that the next level up will be a failure even if it's lower-pressure, because it's
much bigger.
