How would that work? The money has to come from somewhere. If this is fake so insiders can dump, who is on the other side of the trade?  

The only thing I could think of is that some whale shorted the stock at a much higher price and needs to buy the shares back with the profits. But if that's the case, why not just let the company go bankrupt?
