From this post, it appears that active cable technology for data centre interconnects already exists.  From the GaugeChanger promotion by Spectra, they have been promoting the benefits of active cables compared to fibre (lower power and thinner) but can anyone provide any clarity as to how GaugeChanger compares to the existing active cables in the market for data centre use?

If GaugeChanger was competing only against fibre and passive cables, I think it would be a much easier to sell verses trying to compete against other active cables.  Unless of course, Spectra's interconnect is significantly superior to the other active cables already in the market.
