India and China - big potential for both brand and OTC drugsBoth countries have a very large ancient history of herbal medicine.. but this typically involved powderizing plant parts or taking them in teas or cooking with little knowledge of the MOA (method of action), active ingredient, safety and efficacy profiles that are required in modern medicine... China has made good progress recently in applying new principles of medicine to isolate active indredients and various medical profiles of many plants, but India for some reason has not...I suspect India has been focused on pharmaceuticals likely and just selling the raw plant material to buyers that exist... India however, IMO, has an even better opportunity to create new plant derived medical compunds, since it has the knowledge of modern pharmaceuticals as well as the large herbal medicine history and supply of a large quantity of unique plant life --- India has 18,000 flowering plants and the large majority have not even been tested for active medical ingredients..
How is this relavant to NPH? Previously I mentioned Termeric as a great opportunity for NPH since it has recently proven two effective and safe, active medical ingredients , addressing three very large market segments , from one plant.. ..and coule be developed with out much cost... After looking at this closer however, it is apparent that there are many many more opportunities in India for plant based medicines and the unique country assets, pharma knowledge, unique plant life, drug manufacturing knowledge , (and lack of industry jumping on this opportunity there) indicate if NPH were to pursue an initial low risk target initially that it would have many follow on products that would follow after .... and the time is perfect...
