RE:RE:RE:3DGO is shutting down.I think it's pretty obvious there was no sale. A buyer would have wanted to retain the existing customer base - else they might as well just start their own competing service.
I had the impression this would happen when they announced that the only interested parties were Chinese and that both deadlines had already been missed. Chinese companies have their own way special of doing business, and often, they'll act interested but actually have their own agenda...
I do think they're shutting down on pretty short notice, though... tomorrow's the last day to make a rental, and by Monday 3DGO will be no more? Something tells me this is not just about not finding a buyer (although that remains the root cause)... could be that one of the big players on which 3DGO depends has had enough and decided to shut off the valves. Could be Neulion, or maybe one or more studios have decided to pull their titles. From what I could see in the past few weeks, many Universal titles and pretty much all the low-quality documentary content has vanished from their library (at least from their website). If Disney and/or Paramount have decided to pull their titles, that leaves 3DGO with no content to sell.
I guess that also sets the table for a declaration of bankruptcy next Thursday. Nothing would justify another 45-day extension at this point.
