CS500 - learn to walk before you run.....Given the current industry duopoly now held by Boeing and Airbus in the single aile aircraft segment, you'd have to think that most of the world's airlines would have a serious business interest in seeing a third player such as Bombardier develop and build a CS500 aircraft.
I suspect that when earlier approached in 2011 about a CS500, Bombardier had already realized by then it was in over its head financially with development costs for the CS100 and 300.
Given the already excellent business relationship built between Delta and Bombardier with the CRJs, Bombardier likely said, come back to see us, once we get the CS100 and CS300 up and running.
Gobomber in an earlier post this evening was asking whether we are hearing the "whole truth" by the fed and Bombardier itself and suggested the Delta deal and the Canadian fed's moneys (called a bailout) in the same timeframe don't blend well with the U.S. government (who itself is getting pushed by Boeing).
The liberals don't want to miss a solid opportunity to look good by promoting jobs in Canada and it would then make good business sense for the fed to help fund the required R&D to develop and build the CS500.
