Who is Really on First Base?

Who is Really on First Base?Marpy - things are not so clear cut.  Recall it was an Enkhbayar government that started the whole OT set-up, that appears to have secured RioT as prime operator, that did negotiate as hard as they could with the windfall profits tax but also approved a series of draft IA's that then stalled in Parliament for want of legislative approvals and support.  Go back and read the IVN (TRQ) MD&A's through 2009 - Cabinet and NSC approvals followed by obstruction by the DEMs and splinter parties in Parliament until after the 2009 elections?

The record 2009-2016 not exactly a ringing endorsement of the status quo; on the other hand all the choices seem fraught with fear and loathing for foreign investors who just want win-win stability and an acceptance of the simple proposition that a deal is a deal and generally changes of government gave to abide by legal agreements previously made.

Although in Canada it seems every election always has a promise to tear up some contract for a major project or military procurement; and our American cousins seem to be lapping-up Trumpian and Bernian promises to renegotiate or repeal or implode everything in the status quo within sight - even though they are just BS'ing the gullible  public.  Break up Wall Street?  Get Congress to dismantle Obamacare?  Renegotiate every major trade and military treaty made in the past 50 years?  Good grief.

I'm not sure the MPP and MPRP's election rhetoric is going to change anything at OT because first they are desperate for this loan package to work, second they were involved last year in the renegotiated settlement.  All that South Gobi debacle, Hotel Mongolia, tear-up the IA ... ah ... Dem legacies?

Pretty wild politics for sure.
