Rdgeo: I have a good friend who's a very successful jeweler. He says he can spot an artificial stone in seconds. He has almost no requests for synthetic diamonds. His explanation , diamonds have been created by natural forces deep in the earth over billions of years. Synthetic stones were made in an industrial strip mall last week. He won't sell you one.

The precious stones have captured ( thanks to Debeers) the hearts , souls and imaginations of lovers all over the world. Giving a loved one a fake diamond would be a big mistake. They are small ( one carat or less) and she would find out as soon as she visited a jeweler. That would likely not go over well.

The other market , the wealthy would not consider synthetic stones period. Kind of like buying a counterfeit Rolex. Whats the point.
