RE:RE:This is how the First Nations

RE:RE:This is how the First NationsI don't mean to sound indelicate or uncaring.  I certainly don't want to see people killing themselves, let alone living in poverty.

But aren't they bringing this upon themselves?  What are they doing for work to bring themselves out of poverty?  What are they doing to somewhat integrate with the rest of society while keeping their own culture?  It is possible, you know.  All I hear about, and it's not just with Matamec, is how the FN are postponing or shutting down mining projects.

I'm all in favor of making sure that explorers and miners are taking care of the land.  We all live here and have a responsibility to be good stewards.  At the same time, protesting mines and shutting down projects is killing jobs that could otherwise be theirs.  Theirs to get them out of poverty.  Instead, what I read in your two articles, is that they want handouts for counselling and so on.  That garbage has to stop.  If they want the benefits, then they need to work.  Just like the rest of us.

If I'm wrong, please respectfully disagree and tell me where I err.  I'll listen and re-assess my position if I think you make good points.
