ATH trading volumes getting bigger

ATH trading volumes getting biggerIn the last three months 317 million ATH shared were traded. But last month alone 162 million shares were traded.  That is about 40 % of the total outstanding shares. Huge numbers of shares were traded by HFT for small spreads but there are still large number of investors who wanted to dump shares have mostly done so.

Quite a few actual sellers have been absorbed at these low prices.  What were are now facing is HFT & short sellers.  I cannot see short sellers increasing their short positions at these prices when the oil is over $48.

If the Oil prices continue to bounce they will be compelled to cover. Some may be waiting for a pull back in the price of oil. Some of the covering might be taking place now.  The new short report as on May 15 will be out on Thursday.

Tomorrow is an important day because oil inventories come out. Usually the inventory report has a direct impact on the price of oil. If we see regular drawn downs in weekly inventory reports the oil prices will continue to firm up. The fires in Canada & shut down of over million barrels will have a direct impact on the inventories.
