It is plainly obvious that there are more bits and pieces to the AOC than just the detector + tranceiver. Those costs may be similar or different (and possibly a headwind to POET's cost base). Surrounding bits of plastic and the metal involved in the connector for example will be similar. labour and/or mechanical assembly may be pluys or minus similar. Optical fibre may be more expensive than copper. So the savings (33x and 14x) relate to the subcomponentry and not the whole package. They are saying the entire package is 50% GM at 1.5 times the cost of copper.
Don't confuse apples with apple seeds.
