ROADS NEEDED
Every new government, federal or provincial, promises to clean up the mess(es) on the reserves across Canada. Nothing seems to have changed but the wording of the promises and now they’ve added the magic word “infrastructure”. It seems to me now would be a good time to build an all weather road or railroad into Attawaspiskat, which has become the poster community of despair. Why not use this example to build permanent roads into or near a number of these settlements across Northern Ontario. We could even call it the second Trans Canada Highway. I’m sure the mining companies in the so called “Ring of Fire” in Ontario’s vast north west would appreciate it and even contribute to this effort as well. The road builders could even hire the near by “Natives” to help build the roads. These people need more infrastructure help than the photo op cities we tend to see.
Then there is the need to support the yet to be determined route of the Canada East Pipeline, which would benefit the whole country.
