RE:MMPR Aug 24th
IMO I think that MMJ will have a similar status as alcohol and tobacco: Controlled by law: -Locations where consuming is allowed -Age limit -Commercial production -Commercial sale -Govt collects taxes on all products -Very high fines for illegal trafficking I think that the Vancouver decision to allow people to grow their own MJ is exaggeratedly seen as an "end all" decision. Govt can class MJ as a special product just like alcohol and tobacco and other judges may add to the jurisprudence - laws evolve they are not eternally stagnant. I think that the new laws and decisions will take into account that MJ is not only a medicine (obviously!) and as such can be controlled just like alcohol and tobacco. If patients can go to the drugstore and buy insurance covered MJ then the govt can place as many rules around that as they want. If you don't trust my opinion trust the govt to make a ton of money on a product they will control through law; they won't cut themselves out of the profits and to get profits you need a controlled access.
