Tesla Needs Graphite Supply Locked In.

Tesla Needs Graphite Supply Locked In.Back in 2012 I realized the green tech market was going to be big in the future.  I bought Tesla at $31 bucks, Lac Minerals, Ballard Power and Zenyatta ventures.  Lets’ just say it’s been a wild ride.

IMO Tesla should be locking down supply for their raw materials such as lithium and graphite.  Tesla has been driving the EV market but other manufacturers are starting to see the writing on the wall since Tesla got the huge reservations for its new model.

Tesla thus far has used synthetic graphite or I should say Panasonic uses synthetic to achieve superior performance out of its battery packs.  Synthetic is expensive and its production requires intensive heat to burn off impurities, but this process is far from green.  Most LIB’s use natural flake graphite and then place a carbon coating on it to produce spherical graphite.    What Tesla needs is a natural graphite with the quality of synthetic graphite.  That’s where Zenyatta Ventures comes into play, I believe that Tesla and Zen need each other.

ZEN is located in northern Ontario Canada, which is a politically stable and mining friendly.  It discovered a one of a kind in the world, hydrothermal graphite deposit.  Zenyatta has more than 40 NDA’s with end users and research institutions.   This graphite now has the stamp of approval from the scientific community that its quality is as good, and better in some respects than synthetic graphite.

Zen has completed its 43-101 RE which identified a total indicated and inferred resource of 1.4m tons.  It has also completed a very conservative PEA, which revealed a $2046 USD cost per purified ton.  The PEA used an annual production of 30k tons per annum and a value of only $7500/ton, which was before Dr. Conly stated  that Zen’s graphite was as good as synthetic.

Today Tesla pays about $20k/ton for synthetic graphite.  There were rumours coming out of Thunder Bay that Elon and his team were kicking the tires of Zenyatta last fall.  If I was Elon I would be looking at buying the whole deposit b4, Ballard or Larisplast ( a cement admixture company) from Israel finishes their test and jumps first.  Oh did I mention that Zenyatta has received financial support in the form of grants from both the Canadian federal and provincial governments.  Last month Zenyatta was invited to accompany the Ontario Premier on the trade mission to Israel, which produced an MOU with Larisplast.

A few months ago I sold 200 shares of my Tesla and I have loaded up on Zenyatta.  My bet is that Tesla is well aware of the Albany deposit and I’m sure that he would rather pay 5 or 6k/ton then $20k for synthetic.  The nice kicker was the cdn/usd exchange rate.   Do your own DD and here is the website with all the intel.  https://www.zenyatta.ca/article/welcome-1.asp
