The best aircraft wins. period.I owned Bombardier between 1996 and 2002. Bombardier had a huge decade in the 1990's and started the regional jet revolution. Then they let Embraer beat them in the 2000's because Embraer built a better plane. The same story goes for Boeing and Airbus. Airbus built a better aircraft than the Boeing 737 in the 1980s and they gradually became the leader in the market today. The best aircraft always wins.
Bombardier is back and the next 10 years will be a repeat of the nineties. They've got the best product. They'll build the CS500 and they'll gradually take more and more market share. At the same time, they've got to take on Embraer and ATR in the sub 100 seat market and I'd love to see them retire the CRJ and revamp the Q400 into a Q500 and beat both ATR and Embraer on economics. Then they'd have the leading 70-100 seater, the leading 110-150 seater and the leading global business aircraft. From there, we'll see if they learned from past mistakes when new competition arises.
