Residents of Wajir South agree to oil exploration
If I post or tweet an OLD news today, is it a new news franky23(retard)?
Then I repost this TODAY so it is a new news from today! Days after refusing to welcome an oil drilling company to Wajir South over environmental degradation concerns, area residents have now given Simba Energy the green light to proceed after the company agreed to address their concerns.
Simba Energy organized a public participation exercise at a Wajir Hotel over the weekend bringing together elders and leaders from the affected areas where a consensus was reached on how the company should conduct itself.
The two sides agreed to form a joint committee to deal with management issues and agreed to equitable distribution of resources such as jobs and other opportunities among the local communities.
In the deal whose content was seen by Nep Journal, Simba Energy agreed to conserve the environment and compensate locals for any harm caused or loss suffered due to the effects of exploration in accordance with the laws of Kenya.
The locals also committed the company to give due respect to their cultural and religious practices to ensure there were no misunderstanding between the two sides.
A meeting between the company and local stakeholders turned stormy this week after the latter expressed fears of environmental degradation which they said will affect their source of livelihoods.
