long term

long termWhatever REN does in short term, the long-term prospects are tantalizing.

1) No lingering debt from the era of high oil prices

2) A talented team which knows how to get oil out of this particular formation

3) Great connections with the Mexican government's oil officials

4) Apparent close ties with Halliburton

With these advantages, REN has already:

1) shown an ability to bid on blocks without leaving a lot on the table

2) managed market expectations by always exceeding their projected best case scenario

3) used the low-oil price environment to assemble a top-notch team

Eventually, the Mexican government is going to go with the companies which get the most oil out of the ground. They need the royalty money.

Telfer is experienced in Mexico, and he has previously built a huge company. Although late career encore performances don't often work out, what makes this one promising is the staff assembled, the quality of the ground, the long-term approach of the management--and the fact that competitors so far haven't shown REN's ability to roll up their sleeves and get to work.

Now that REN is a producer, investors get a double whammy: a way to play the eventuality of higher crude prices, as well as a chance to get in on the ground floor of a new company taking advantage of a new era in Mexico.

Please knock holes in these points! I could benefit from some educated pessimism.
