Yes the odds are the key. I can't recall any exploration plays where De Beers walked away from a really good if not world class diamond mine. In the cases that we did, we either got the supply of diamonds from that mine anyway, or did so due to geopolitical reasons.

We did not miss Argyle as some claim. We where in the hunt but our team was a matter of weeks away from the discovery ourselves.

I know of 3 ex colleagues working on De Beers old ground and NONE have found anything yet. Of course my 2 diamondiferous pipes in Western Baffin are a sure thing ;D
