Climate guru wants Diablo California ...& Japan reactors
Good Afternoon, 1. Japan has announced the restart of its 5th reactor. See the link to the story below. But the key sentence to read is the last one of the article. This sentence says "Another 20 reactors are moving through the restart process, which has been prioritised to bring on the most-needed reactors first, in the localities and prefectures more supportive of restart." i am on record saying this re-start process will take longer than the market believes but it is encouraging to see 20 reactors trying to restart. https://www.world-nuclear-news.org/C-Fifth-Japanese-power-reactor-restarted-1208164.html 2. Also newsworthy but less reported is Iran announced over the weekend that Russia would build 2 new nuclear reactors in Iran. The reactors will have 2,000 MW of power generating capacity each. The leadership in Iran has approved the build of 20,000 MW of nuclear reactors, for a total of 10 new reactors. https://www.azernews.az/region/100867.html 3. The future closure of Diablo Canyon reactor in California is causing a ruckus in the carbon foot print world. Such h a ruckus, that the well known climate change advocate has written a letter to Governor Jerry Brown asking the Governor to step in a not close Diablo Canyon, as the closure will mean the California carbon foot print will increase. This is quite an interesting read. See the link below. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesconca/2016/08/14/global-warming-and-nuclear-energy-jim-hansen-and-governor-brown/#17bc00b91695
