and here is why: porous sand and gravel ranging from 50-100 meters thick lay over the 840W zone, extending from underneath Paterson Lake. There can be little doubt the groundwater also extends well past 840W zone. That means that wells to draw down the water table won't work, and that at the very least, a slurry wall will be required, and far enough back to accomodate the angle of repose for unconsolidated material in the open pit walls. Can a slurry wall keep water seepage to an economically magagable minimum level regarding the high cost of water treatment for radioactive contamination? Is there enough uranium in 840W to cover off those costs? Obviously underground mining isn't a solution either as the resource is too shallow, and water ingress would be a large issue. The only possible benifit is that a dyke wouldn't also be required. I see this news as nothing more than a liquidity opportunity for those who want out of this stock.
