RE:RE:KC DrillingNot exactly.  The position of Hole 3 was determined by data from Holes #1 and 2.  Remember that in the first hole they found a thick layer of very hard exhalite that contained zinc.  Hole 3 is being drilled at an angle to look for VMS under that exhalite layer.  So, while Holes 1 and 2 failed to hit VMS, they did find significant amounts of indicator material associated with VMS.
