Agrium/PCS will clear Canada, as the businesses are very complimentary, the US is a different animal. US farmers are like the NRA, especially with an election year, US farmers have power.
Crop Production Services/Agrium in US is 17% of the retail distribution, only a fool would beleve that US farmers won't fight this merger.
Anything that leads to less competition in the US is met with a fight, look at the Dow Chemical/Dupont merger that started last December. It cleared Canada, for those of you whom have no idea what ag is, these are 2 chemical companies operating in Canada and abroad.
One quick question, when you folks buy a loaf a bread at a grocery store do you buy the $6/loaf or the $4/loaf, the $6 may be a better product from the label, same applies to the potash industry. Very price sensitive industry with $3/bu corn, its not rocket science folks.
Just my thoughts
Ask any farmer if they like salt in their fertilizer and see what the answer is?
