Plenty of people have been burned on the inverse scenario. Bogus company releases a phony PR to pump the price. Investors get lured in buying at steep % increase. In the coming weeks, or even days, shares get dumped. Perhaps insiders cashing out, etc.

A recent example is Nymox. This is a disaster company. Look at the past 24hrs for them.

Regarding the comments the author makes, it is worth cross referencing via your own due dilligence (if it interests you) just so you get a sense of who is running that company.
