I agree.  Shorting is not suitable for the average person.  It's used by professional market traders and those attempt to trade with them.  It's a costly journey for some especially if you don't do your homework!  Just going on hype or future promises is always a bad idea. 

As someone who really wants to jump in to take advantage of the oversold condition, I can't bring myself to go long. This feels bad, really rad.

Shorting is beyond the capabilities of the average joe.  It's risky.

But if I held, I would sell.  So isn't short selling the same thing?  It's a "sell" trade, just more risky? 

And, conversely, if you have shares and sell, then you it actually reduces your risk as serious issues, questions and concerns are addressed.

I only see a dark pit from here myself.  This really feels like a bear trap for those who follow short term TA only.
