Memories of Livengood AlaskaDuring the summer of 1975 I traveled from my home in Washington State to Alaska to find a summer job. I was 20 years old at the time. After a couple of weeks searching I landed a job as a rig hand with a company by the name of Becker Drilling in Fairbanks. We set out to drill some center sample return holes for Homestake Mines. As it turns out the ground we were drilling on was what ITH refers to as the Livengood gold project. I can't believe that was 41 years ago. We slept in tents and were eaten by black flies and mosquetos on a daily basis. One thing in particular I remember was moving our Nodwell drilling rig across a road cut on Money Knob to our next location. In the road cut we found a massive amount of quartz crystals some as large as 2" in diameter with visible gold amongst the crystals. Our geologists were having a field day collecting samples. I wish I had taken some photos. Anyway the gold is there. I saw it. Overall the cost of production may by high on this ground now relative to the spot price but when the price reaches new highs there will be a fortune to be made on this property. Stay long and prosper. GLTA
