Composite mortality = 45%
Absolute benefit compared to placebo group = 5% (much lower than expected)
Placebo (SOC) group = 47.5% mortality?
Treated group = 42.5% mortality?
Is the 176 patient group representative of a normal MODS 9+, elevated endotoxin level group?
Were other factors really badly affecting our hand?
Has the SOC treatment of really sick septic shock patients suddenly improved?
Why is the SOC+randomized group so different than the non-consent group (47.5? vs 62%)?
There is either a statistical anomaly going on, or we have been/are being cheated!
