South African Government Approval for Franco-Nevada/Gold Fields Merger Denied TORONTO, Sept. 21 /CNW/ - Franco-Nevada Mining Corporation Limited (TSE:FN) today announced that the Minister of Finance of South Africa, Mr. Trevor Manuel, has informed Gold Fields Limited (JSE:GFI and NASDAQ:GOLD) that exchange control approval for the previously announced merger of the companies, as structured and presented, has been denied.
