Bell Mobility First Cellular Service in Canada to Offer Wireless Access to MSN Hotmail - Mobile Browser(TM) Users Can Access MSN(R) Hotmail(R) on their Bell Mobility Devices
TORONTO, Sept. 21 /CNW/ - MSN(R) Hotmail(R), the world's leading globally
accessible free-web-based electronic mail service, is now available wirelessly
for the first time in Canada on Mobile Browser(TM), a Bell Mobility service
that enables users to log onto the Internet from a Digital PCS phone or RIM
Blackberry(TM) device.
Effective this month, Bell Mobility customers can now access their MSN
Hotmail account directly from the Mobile Browser main menu in a single click,
enabling them to view, compose, send, receive, and forward e-mail.
MSN Hotmail recently surpassed 5 million active accounts in Canada. There
are 66 million active Hotmail accounts worldwide, with an average of 270,000
accounts opened daily around the world. Hotmail is now available in seven
languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese,
Italian and Japanese.
``Bell Mobility is pleased to be the first wireless carrier to offer
Canadians direct, simple anytime, anywhere access to their MSN Hotmail email
accounts,'' said Rob Bruce, Senior VP Marketing at Bell Mobility. ``This
service is a significant complement to Mobile Browser and supports our goal of
offering Canadians the greatest choice in accessing the best sites and
services available on the wireless web.''
Bell Mobility offers Mobile Browser users access to more wireless email
services and wireless web sites on more Internet-enabled devices than any
other wireless carrier in Canada.
``We are excited to be making MSN Hotmail easily accessible to Bell
Mobility's extensive network of wireless customers,'' said, Rimes Mortimer,
Director of Wireless and Interactive TV services for Microsoft Canada Co.
``This announcement, extending wireless reach for MSN Hotmail, represents the
first step in delivering on our .NET vision to offer leading content and
services anytime, anywhere and on any device.''
