Zone 5 Breccia infoA bit of Zone 5 info, if you are not as familiar with it.
Firstly, Alexandria is working 4 high potential areas on the property right now:
1) Orenada Shear Structure - currently drilling (already has a 750K oz gold resource)
2) Triangle Too Intrusive Area - 12 target areas identfied (further drilling in winter program)
3) Zone 5 Breccia - 9 Au-Cu drill targets identified (likely to be in winter drill program)
4) New Cu-Au Mineralized Target (pg 13, Sept 20th presentation) - could be included in the winter drill program
With regards to today`s news, I find this part to be especially important:
- ´´Correlation between high gold-copper assays, copper and iron sulfides in drill core and geophysical electrical conductors´´
There seems to be strong correlation between the minerals in the drill core and the geophysical electrical conductors down-hole and off-hole.
And this:
- ``The location of the conductors away from the drill holes with potential for new discovery both along and across strike``
Now, if we consider this:
´´Within the drill core, elevated concentrations of copper and iron sulfides, which are notable conductors, are correlated with strong gold and copper assays.´´
Now, I know that silver if the greatest conductor of heat and electricity. However, it is copper and gold that is used the most, as they are good conductors also - copper is used most due to being inexpensive and gold is used for having high corrosion resistence.
I don`t know how exactly the
Borehole InfiniTEM® geophysical survey work, but perhaps the fact that both copper and gold - and perhaps the iron sulfides also - have such good conductivity allows for mineral readings to be strong in neighbouring (undrilled areas of the structure).
The company can now set the new drill holes to these strong conductivity readings, with high probability of solid success. Alexandria tested 12 past drill hole areas at Zone 5. The studies provided 9 drill targets.
Zone 5 is a Breccia - 1.8 km long. Breccias are sedimentary rocks (thus displaced material). As such, it is a different type of target than Triangle and Orenada.
Together, Zone 5 and Hogg Zone (another Breccia, immediately to the east), represents 2.5 km of exploration potential.
There is something good sitting at Zone 5. Alexandria just needed to figure it out. I think they have now taken a big step in understanding where (and how) to focus the drills.
Slide 18 on the Sept 1st presentation (still on Alexandria`s website) has a profile of Zone 5. The newer Sept 20th presentation doesn`t have this slide.
In 2015, they tested it with a single hole and hit 23.1m of 1.66 g/t gold eq in hole15-056 – including 13.6m of 2.23 g/t gold eq.
Historical hole 40A penetrated the breccia near-surface, with 15.3m of 1.9 g/t gold eq.
Nearby to hole 40A is hole 30A, with 9.5m of 2.5 g/t gold eq.
There is also historical hole 31A – located about 400m east of the holes I previously mentioned. Hole 31A hit (likely) the upper edge of the breccia (south), and provided 16m of 2.67 g/t gold eq.
Also, per today`s NR:
´´Scattered past drilling has intersected strong gold and copper assays, such as 1.5 meters grading 45.9 g/t gold, 10.2 meters grading 8.4 g/t gold and 0.14% copper, 26.5 meters grading 1.00 g/t gold and 0.9% copper; 16.8 meters grading 2.40 g/t gold and 1.2% copper.´´
Some of these results mentioned today are located on the Hogg Breccia part, as part of the 2.5 km profile. The results I mentioned previously above are all located at Zone 5 (1.8 km Breccia).
The Zone 5 breccia hosts disseminated, fracture and veinlet gold and copper minerals. It should be a bulk tonnage deposit.
The historical drill holes were likely only hitting the edges of the breccia. The holes did not necessarily hit the meat of the breccia. Previous (recent) magnetic readings were strong at Zone 5. The current (more focused) geophysical results should better pinpoint extensions of past successful holes.
