The past 2 month decline in the venture chart is due solely to the decline in the price of gold. The majority of both the TSX and more so the Venture are made up gold and material stocks, and so the TSX and the Venture rose from Jan 2016 to the beginning of July 2016 following the price of gold. The Venture has now been in decline since stickly as a result of the price of gold's retreat. 

Comparing a tech stock to a gold stock in comparison to the venture exchange movement doesn't hold ground.
